Lightroom Classic CC 7.1 has been released today. This release is focused on new camera/lens support for Lightroom, as well as bug fixes. There will be a final update for Lightroom 6 on December 19, to add new camera/lens support. The entire Lightroom CC ecosystem has also been updated.
New Intelligent Auto Settings, powered by Adobe’s Sensei!
Lightroom’s old Auto adjustments were… hit and miss, to put it kindly. No more! Adobe has used its machine learning technology to analyze how skilled professional photographers edited tens of thousands of photos, and then applied this information to build a brand new Auto.
The new Auto applies auto adjustments to Exposure, Contrast, Highlights, Shadows, Whites, Blacks, Saturation and Vibrance, to get the best automated result possible. Furthermore, it’s now smart enough to take your existing Crop, White Balance or Camera Profile into account when doing its calculations. It’s much better at retaining highlight and shadow detail, and doesn’t often overexpose, so it’s a much better starting point. Give it a try!

Bug fixes:
There are loads of bug fixes. Adobe only publishes the bugs reported by users. (I’ve added a few additional bugs that are thought to be fixed!)
Import
- Slow import on larger (100k+ catalogs) (and reported here too)
- Count for People with Face Tag was truncated when it reached greater than 1000 (Windows-only)
- ‘Leave As Is’ when importing as ‘Copy as DNG’ was not case-sensitive
- Suspected duplicates failed to identify previously imported photos
- Some CR2’s from raw+jpeg pairs didn’t import on first attempt
Library/Map
- Capture date/time under thumbnails versus the value displayed in Edit capture time were different
- Couldn’t delete a keyword from the Keyword List
- Smart collection “folder starts with” wasn’t working
Develop
- Noise reduction wasn’t applied to previews with GPU enabled
- Photo merge got stuck if no photos were selected
Book/Slideshow/Print/Web
Export
- Export with ‘Add to Catalog Option’ duplicated images in catalogs
- When exporting images with ‘Add to Stack’ checked, only one image file could be stacked with the original
Plug-ins
Workspace/Performance
- If you were having display or performance problems and added a config.lua file, recommended by some of the engineers on the feedback forum, you can now remove it.
If you find another bug, click here to report it.
How do I update?
To update, go to Help menu > Updates or click the Update button in the CC app. The update servers take a while to push the updates around the world, to avoid crashing the servers. You can also open the Creative Cloud app, click the … icon (top right) and select Check for Updates to give it a nudge.
